Kayaking in Eidfjord

Season: 15.06 – 15.09 2010 – walks are arranged on daily basis
Meeing point: Eidfjord Touristinformation – exact time to be arranged according to ship
Return: Eidfjord Turistinformasjon appr. 2,5 hours later.
Age: Min. 7 years. Children 7-10 years: only accompagnied by adults. 1 child pr. adult
Recommended for: Every one. No special skills, experience or physical strength is required.
Clothing: Normal clothes according to the weather. Walking on dirt roads without altitude changes. Good walking shoes will make the walk easy, but is not a must.
Language: The main language is English. Depending on the guide it will also be possible to tell the stories in German, Dutch, Danish and/or Norwegian

Description:
A guide from FlatEarth Adventures meets the group in front of Eidfjord Tourist Information. The group follows the guide who tells about Eidfjord Cruise Port and then continues towards the path along the river Eio.
On the walk towards Eidfjordvatnet the guide will tell about how salmon was caught earlier in this river, the special “Salmon Traps”, different arrangements made in order to improve the population of salmon and trout.
On Eidfjordvatnet the group will be instructed in paddle techniques, safety procedures and correct use of the equipment. During the kayaking on Eidfjordvatnet the instructor will tell about the creation of the fjord landscape. The duration of the kayaking will be approximate 1,5 hours.
On the way back the guide will tell about the local food traditions, not only in Eidfjord, but in the Hardanger region as a whole.
